Mark Filstein, M.D.
Dr. Mark Filstein graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a B.A. in physiology. He then attended the prestigious University of California School of Medicine, San Francisco campus. After graduating at the top of his class, Dr. Filstein moved to the East Coast to begin his surgical training.
Dr. Filstein trained in General Surgery at the Montefiore - Einstein Combined Program in the Bronx. He trained in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Albany Medical Center located in Albany, New York. In addition to the core training in Plastic Surgery, Dr. Filstein completed two additional fellowships: Reconstructive Microsurgical Fellowship at the University of Massachusetts and in Craniomaxillofacial Surgery at EVGSM in Norfolk, Virginia.
Dr. Filstein was Board Certified by ABPS in 1995 and recertified in 2006.
Dr Filstein is licensed to practice medicine and surgery in the State of New York.
Dr. Filstein is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons
Operation Smile
Dr. Filstein is an active participant in "Operation Smile," (www.operationsmile.org) a charitable organization helping children with cleft lip and palate deformities throughout the world.
Dr. Filstein has been volunteering his time and talents to Operation Smile for over 20 years. Dr. Filstein have traveled to the Philippines, Honduras, Nicaragua, India, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Columbia, Venezuela, Morocco, Kenya and Ethiopia working in Operation Smile missions. Over the years he has performed over 600 cleft lip and palate surgeries.
